While we love talking shop and helping people implement these strategies in their personal and professional financial lives, we also love covering all of the fun events and activities that South Florida has to offer.
And, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we wanted to share with you our “research” into interesting options to celebrate with your special someone. Bonne Saint Valentin!
1. Dine and Dance at the Addison
The Addison in Boca Raton throws an exceptional Valentine’s Day soirée, complete with seated outdoor dinner in their courtyard, full open bar, and live entertainment all evening. My wife and I attended several years ago, and the picturesque venue truly feels like a lively wedding reception.
2. Movie and a Meal on the Beach
Whiskey Creek Hideout is a nice little cove in Dania Beach for water activities like kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding during the day. For Valentine’s Day, they transform their hideout into a candlelit restaurant in the sand and top it off with an evening showing of Dirty Dancing. Just make sure you don’t put your baby in the corner (table).
3. Single? Dance Party
Admittedly, I don’t have a good handle on the South Florida singles scene — I’ve been happily married to Mrs. Harbor Crest for almost seven years. However, I have heard that the Wynwood Valentine’s Day Party is a fantastic time. If you go, let me know how it is!
4. High Tea by the Intracoastal
The Flagler Museum in Palm Beach is a simply stunning location. I’m a bit biased, though, as I married the aforementioned Mrs. Harbor Crest there. They hold a variety of quaint events throughout the year, and one of the most popular is their Valentine’s Day Tea with live music and views of the Intracoastal.
5. Love Boat
The South Beach Lady offers gorgeous views of the Miami waterways and Biscayne Bay, and they are amping up the show for Valentine’s Day with an all-night dance party. This activity can be paired with any of the others as well, since it’s scheduled for departure Saturday, February 15, in the evening.
6. Sweetheart Paddle Under the Stars
For a more low-key and intimate evening outside, try a nighttime paddle under the stars through Fort Lauderdale. A guide will take you through the Venice of America as you house-watch with your partner in a tandem kayak. Don’t worry, it’s not all exercise — they do make a stop for champagne and sweet treats.
7. Miami International Boat Show
What luck — the Miami International Boat Show is on Valentine’s Day! Have a day of fun by the water with your significant other, touring the yachts and sailboats and soaking up all the activities the boat show has to offer.
Plan Your Special Day
Whatever you choose, from a romantic restaurant to a paddle cruise, make sure to call for your reservations, buy your tickets, and book your babysitter ahead of time. Don’t worry, that’s all of the planning advice I’ll give in this post. Let me know where you chose to celebrate your Valentine’s Day and maybe I’ll see you there!
